Curriculum
At Kajonkiet International School Phuket we follow the British Curriculum which is the National Curriculum for England and Wales. A full breakdown of the schemes of work for each year is available at:
nationalstrategies.standards.dcsf.gov.uk
Kajonkiet is currently a Cambridge Examination Centre for the IGCSE qualifications.
University of Cambridge International Examinations is the world’s largest provider of international education programmes and qualifications for 5–19 year olds. Our qualifications are taken in over 160 countries and recognised by universities, education providers and employers across the world. (http://www.cie.org.uk/aboutcie)
We will offer Cambridge qualifications when the school progresses into Secondary and more information will be available to parents at that time. Cambridge does offer an international curriculum but we have chosen to follow the British Curriculum (National Curriculum for England and Wales) as we feel this offers the children a better opportunity to enter universities around the world.
Please use the link above for further information or visit us in the KISP office where the full EYFS Framework and Primary Curriculum are available to access.

Assessment and APP
Early Years Foundation Stage
Ongoing assessment is an integral part of the learning and development process in the EYFS. Children are observed and progress is recorded against early learning goals in each child’s individual learning journey/profile. The statutory early learning goals establish expectations for most children to reach by the end of the EYFS. They provide the basis for planning throughout the EYFS, so laying secure foundations from birth for future learning.
Key Stages 1 & 2
Assessing pupils' progress (APP) is a new national approach to assessment that puts the learner at the heart of the assessment process.
APP helps teachers to fine-tune their understanding of pupils’ needs and tailor their planning and teaching accordingly, by enabling them to:
track pupils’ progress
use diagnostic information about pupils’ strengths and weaknesses to improve teaching, learning and pupils’ progress
make reliable judgements related to national standards drawing on a wide range of evidence.
Children are assessed using the National Curriculum Levels. These levels range from 1-8 with three sub levels; A, B and C in each level. The levels are given at the end of each year, in all areas of Literacy and Numeracy but are assessed continually throughout the year. The levels that the children are given by their teachers are standardised, this is important to ensure a smooth transition into further studies.
At the end of Key Stages 1 and 2 the children will be assessed using SAT’s examinations which are obtained from the UK and will be used on entry into Key Stage 3.
The EYFS Learning Goals and Primary Levels can be accessed via the tabs on the curriculum page on this website.
